I have a Nizo S480 camera and I want to record sound with a miniDisc player. I saw from a previous post that you can connect the miniDisc to the flash output of the camera.
What kind of connector would I need to accomplish this? Is there anything else i might need to know if I record sound using this method? I've never recorded sound along with filming. I've just made silent films. So this is all new to me.
Thanks!

Hi Jeffery - this kind of question comes up a fair bit here - search the archives of the forum for previous posts about it - I used a different method (crystal synched camera with a minidisc recorder) to record sound for my film - so can't tell you too much about this method. There is also an excellent article on sound synching methods by Martin Baumgarten on my site at http://www.mango-a-gogo.com/inmyimag...ink.htm#martin -- this might be of help too
good luck

I've been searching and I havn't been able to find a post from the past. Or maybe I havn't been looking hard enough.
None say what sort of connector I need. Is it just a normal flash connector that will fit into a socket of a miniDisc player?
Would anyone have a link to a previous post?
Thanks again
Jeffery

Look in my "Syncro Sound" section under "Tone Burst Sync" at this URL:
http://www.super8mm.org/sound.html
There I talk about 1K generators that connect between the camera, minidisc, and mic. I bought one and it just came today. I also talk there about the resolving software that has been developed and avaliable for sale.
However as you may read there you have the Nizo 480 which should have a 1K generator built into it, also known as the impulse sync input. I don't recall exactly on how to use it, but read the manual and I'm sure you can figure out how to use that with the resolving software.

I echo that 'thank you.' I've been lurking, hoping I'd eventually get the answer. I, too, have a Nizo (561) with a pulse thingy at 1000 hz and plan to record sound with a minidisc (which is my new favorite invention). It's the resolver issue I've been missing.....

Awww . . . don't make me feel bad. Yeah, I need to update my site more often. I just adding that info last week. Sorry I didn't add it sooner guys. But sitting here trying to work on the site take way too much time. I hope Cranium can help you with that resolving software. I just got my 1K generator to hook to my Nizo so I'll be testing it myself very soon.

I was just wondering.
Has anyone ever tried synching sound without the pulse thingy, or without using a crystal synch camera?
If so, how many seconds does the sound usually match the picture until it goes off beat? I plan on making a short and only having a couple of dialogue scenes, which have very little dialogue.
Thanks
Jeffery
